From taiwan to the philppines

The Austronesians arrived in the Philippines about 4000 years ago, bringing their technology with them.

The travelled by boat from Taiwan through Orchid and Batanes Islands.

When they arrived to the Phillipines they met the Negritos. Both populations had episodes of close contact.

The Negritos started progressively speaking the languages spoken by the outsiders, a phenomenon called language shift.

All the languages spoken by Negritos today are Austronesian. Actually, barely nothing is known about the old Negrito languages.
