RADIO KABISSEU FM NEWS BROADCAST NOVEMBER 2008
During my fieldwork in Senegal, Radio Kabisseu FM kindly provided me with a set of programs recently aired on the local radio. Thanks to their generosity, we can now listen to the Diola Kassa dialect, spoken in the village of Oussouye and the sourrounding area

A very basic conversation in Diola Kassa with my friend Hannah and a friendly local lady. What is your name? Where are you from? Where do you live? Cassoumay bale! The sound of ricefields. A group of girls walks home after a daily task and says hello, come join us! Venez venez! Wandering by the streets of Oussouye, we run into half a dozen of kids singing. Une chanson. Next to the harbour of Ziguinchor, the capital of Casamance, 4 young Griots show us their musical skills with a welcoming song. Bienvenus en Afrique! |
